Nature Aesthetic
I was thinking about nature and aesthetics, sometimes we feel the need to control things for example a garden. Which is mostly designed to be aesthetically pleasing. They need to have this atmosphere where we do not think about how these plants fit together or if and how they help each other. We don’t pay attention to the stories behind the plants. At first, I started with the question do we need to give away control as a way to fix this climate crisis? Is giving away control helpful? and I concluded that it’s not. Specifically talking around nature spaces I don’t think it’s bad to control it but I think working together might be a beautiful method to do so. I come from a culture where we force upon the land what we want it to do and we make the circumstances of the land to what our needs are instead of us using the land towards what it has to offer.
I was initially terrified, believing that everything I did would be destructive, and that nature was this delicate entity. It isn't, yet this concept was imprinted in my mind, causing me to hold back for a while. I left the thought because it isn't a constructive one. It gives the impression that we are doomed and there is nothing we can do about it. After the conversation with precious plastics, I was optimistic. It made me think that what they do isn't flawless. We will never be able to completely eliminate plastic, but we can make something valuable out of single-use plastic. This kind of working with the imperfect world was motivating to me. After that, I felt hopeful.
