Layers

I attempted to understand the complexity of a piece of land by going through several layers of the greenhouse. I looked at the history of cultivated plants/flowers, insects that live there, animals that found a home or a resting place, the greenhouse's history and my grandmother's history, as well as my personal memories. To try and this understand complexity, I could expand the book endlessly. I used various types of paper to illustrate the layers or plateaus. Some are translucent, while others are thicker or contain flowers.

This project, for example, does not include a layer of soil and its life. I don't know enough about this to create a proper layer. The lives of the insects in this book could be enhanced. This is also why I chose to use hoops to connect the pages. You can rearrange the pages as well as add to them.
